Hudud al-Waqtحدود الوقت

A prayer-time calendar that shows the boundaries inside each prayer's time (chosen, disputed, disliked and exit), for each of the four madhabs.

What it does

Most prayer apps show a single time for each prayer. Hudud al-Waqt shows the whole window: when the time enters, the preferred time (اختيار), disputed zones (خلاف), disliked or necessity time (كراهة / ضرورة), and when it exits (خروج).

  • A live countdown and a sun-path strip for the current prayer.
  • A madhab selector. The default colors each moment by the agreement or majority of the four madhabs, and a “safe for all” row shows the most cautious verdict.
  • A prayer selector that zooms the timeline into one prayer’s window.
  • A month table with CSV export, in-page alerts and optional system notifications.
  • Keyboard shortcuts, light and dark themes, and an install-as-app option that works offline.

How it’s built

  • Plain JavaScript ES modules and CSS, built with Vite, with no framework and no runtime dependencies.
  • Its own solar math (declination, equation of time, sun altitude), turned into per-madhab prayer timelines.
  • All the fiqh content (each boundary, each madhab’s ruling and note) lives in one data file, kept separate from the calculations.
  • Vitest unit tests compare the computed times against reference values and check every built-in city’s time zone, coordinates and method.
  • A service worker for offline use. Entry times round up and exit times round down, as a precaution.
